Before you jump into the obvious, completing the following simple tasks will set you up for success. After vacation prep is especially important if you’re jumping straight back into work or coming back to a busy week, so let’s get started!
1. Fill Your Water Bottle
Chances are, after a vacation, you are a bit dehydrated. Whether you were hiking in the desert or pounding daiquiris at the pool, do your body a favor and remind it what water is. Curb the sluggishness and dehydration headaches so you can focus on what’s important!
2. Write it Down
If you feel overwhelmed with tasks, take a moment to scribble your thoughts on a piece of paper or use the notes app in your phone. Keep this list nearby to write any other fleeting thoughts down so you can keep focused on what you were doing without forgetting anything important. It won’t make your list any smaller, but it can help you see it all in one space so it feels less scary and allows you to prioritize better.
3. Wash Your Laundry
The smell of wet, trapped clothes is not a good one. Save yourself from the horror of wet bathing suits or sweaty activewear and throw in your dirty laundry ASAP. This will also help keep germs at bay and sand from traveling throughout your house!
4. Go Grocery Shopping
On the flight or drive home, meal plan and make a grocery list for what you need. Bonus points if you can save time by placing an online order and picking it up. Look at you go- day one post vacation and your fridge is stocked and your meals are planned for the week. Girl, you’re killing it! Now treat yourself.
5. Refresh Your Mani
After a week or two, especially if you were in the water a lot, there’s a good chance your nails are either growing out or have some chips. Nothing distracts me more than a bad mani, so keep that focus strong and get your nails done. Plus, this gives you the excuse to continue the pampering that you had on vacation.
For me personally, I prefer to get my salon-perfect mani at home. If you want to skip booking an appointment, driving there, and paying a fortune, check out Olive & June. The at-home mani system gives you everything you need, and nothing that you don’t for that perfect mani at home.
If you aren’t great at painting your nails, fear not! They have fun and free resources that teach you everything you need to know. My favorite part is that it’s real polish so it’s soooo much easier to remove than gel or dip! Use my code savana20 to save yourself 20%!
6. Make Yourself Unpack
I know, I know. Just like we despise packing, we also aren’t fans of unpacking. The good news is, I find it’s much, much easier. If you followed step 3, you’re already halfway there. By putting away the rest of your stuff, it will be right where you need it when you’re getting ready the next day and you won’t be tripping on your suitcase for the next month. You’ll thank yourself later.
